The One with the Celebration

So, like I mentioned yesterday, I've officially been doing this whole "author" thing for a year now. And I love that the third and final full-length book in the Losing It series s releasing almost simultaneously with this anniversary.

It feels like I've come full circle. This series is ending, and a new one is beginning.

So, I figured we should celebrate!

And when my publicist and I sat down to talk about what we wanted to do to commemorate the occasion, the theme seemed obvious.

FIRSTS.

This is, after all, the end of the first year containing my first series, which opened with a book about first times, followed by a book about two people confronting their demons for the first time, and ending with Kelsey's first time out on her own.

So here's what you need to know:

What you can win: A signed set of LOSING IT, FAKING IT, and FINDING IT. And I'll let you choose whether you prefer the US or the UK set, that way you can get the ones that aren't readily available wherever you live. :) AND.... the winner will also receive something very special, of which there are only two. I have one, and you will get the other. That would be... Hamlet the demon cat.

Stuffed, of course. (Doesn't he look so stinking angry? Adorable). Starting with my last signing in Seattle, I adopted a stuffed version of Hamlet, complete with an "Awkward people need love, too" bracelet for a collar. I bought one for me to take to signings, and another to giveaway. Here's your chance to have a Hamlet of your very own (including his bracelet collar). And if I can figure out a way to sign him, I will. :)

How to win: Earn one entry for the usual stuff-- Tweeting, Liking, Following. Earn TEN entries by telling us about one of your awkward or funny FIRSTS in the comments. You can tell up to four stories (each in a separate comment) for a total of 40 entries.

I realize not everyone is ready and willing to bust out stories of their awkward first times (nor does everyone have an awkward first time... lucky bastards). So, that's why all kinds of firsts are on the table. You can tell us about a first kiss, first date, first time meeting the parents, first time making a colossal fool out of yourself in any romantic capacity. Really, we're flexible. We just want to celebrate with some laughs.

So, to give you an example, I'll spill one of my firsts!

FIRST SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP

I'd been in a few relationships before, but this is the first one I really counted. The others had either been too short or not that serious. This guy was different though. He was older, and it went beyond the usual puppy love of my middle school days. (He was actually my first french kiss, too, which occurred in my bedroom with a friend of ours playing video games a few feet away. My head was in his lap, and he leaned over me and gave me a spiderman-esque upside down kiss, which was not nearly as seamless as it appears in the movie. My nose was shoved up against his chin, and I remember thinking only I would manage to have my first kiss upside-down).

Anyway, long story short: About three weeks into this new and different relationship, he showed up to school with a stuffed animal and chocolates. I asked him what it was for, and he said our one month anniversary. Now, I knew positively that it was not our one month anniversary. In fact, he was a full ten days off. I was head-over-heels, and had been counting the days. But the guy was just so cute and sweet that I agreed and didn't say anything. He looked all hurt because he thought I had forgotten (when really, he was just bad at math).

We proceeded to celebrate the wrong anniversary for the entirety of our relationship. And to make it worse, he was one of those overly sweet guys that wanted to celebrate our anniversary every. single. month. And each time, it killed me. I was a bit of a commitment-phobe even at that age, so combine that with my know-it-all-hermione-granger-wannabe personality, and it was practically torture. To this day, I'm so weird about anniversaries.

I can't remember if I actually ever told him either. Wherever he is, let's all hope he's not working any job that requires he be good with numbers. :)

Well, there you go! So tell us about your firsts! Give me your awkward, weird, and humiliating stories, and I shall give you my unfettered adoration (just don't expect me to celebrate anniversaries).

WARNING: This giveway is only lasts until release day! So, make sure you enter now!

  7. First kiss: I was actually in first grade, and we were sneaking under the playset at recess. I think it was due to having older siblings and seeing them with their boyfriends. We were both like "yeah that's a good idea!" The monitor caught us and were both ran away screaming. It was really quite comical now that I think about it :)

  8. My fist kiss was when I was about 16 and the boy I thought I was crazy about kissed me and I seriously needed a towel. He slobbered all over me. YUCK.

  9. One of my funny firsts was the day I met my husbands family. We went to his parents house for a 4th of July picnic. He is one of 7 kids and they all pretty much look alike. We were all having a good time playing kick ball, and hanging out. At one point one of his older brothers who looked very much like my husband and was wearing a white t shirt and baseball hat just like my husband was standing talking to with someone near me. I turned around walked over not even hearing his voice and wrapped my arms around him from behind and said "Hey hun" yea it wasn't my husband it was his brother! And his wife was standing there like "What are you doing?" AWKWARD!

  16. My first dance! It wasn't actually all that awesome. I mean I've danced before but not on a slow dance and when it finally happened it was at the middle grade graduation prom. It was with my crush from then and while we were dancing some classmates were arguing and somehow they spilled Coke on us. Not funny at all, at least not for us.

First date: with the same boy from my first kiss in middle school. We went sea turtle-saving with a local volunteer group, got all sandy and messy but it was awesome! Then we went to get takeout and ate on the beach:)

  22. My husband was my first kiss and and first boyfriend, first heartbreak too, he was also my 3rd boyfriend, but that is a different story. So I didn't imagine being asked if I could be kissed as my first kiss, so when he said "Can I kiss you?" I said No. He said "What?" and I was hoping he didn't hear me the first time and I said Yes, and pretended like I hadn't said anything before. I don't think he remembers any of this because being married to him is like him being on 50 first dates, he remembers absolutely nothing or just acts like he does.

  27. "My first date" was actually not mine. I happened to meet with my friend and her date and she wanted to get out of there as soon as possible but she didn't know how to do it because on that date she found out they didn't like the same things as she thought at first (but I had quite a lot in common with him :) )and she left us. We started dating for a couple of moths after that :))

  28. The first time I met my husband's grandmother was when she invited the two of us to dinner when his parents were out of town. We had only been dating a few weeks. She interrogated me all evening, and acted like she needed to protect her grandson from my supposed corruption!

  29. First time I went to a school dance, I went with a family friend's younger son. He had braces and wouldn't smile and I didn't smile because I thought I looked better that way, our dance photos were pretty funny since we both looked miserable and of course both of our moms were excited. Seeing him at family parties is still awkward and that was over 10 yrs ago

  31. There was this time when I had a friend over and we were watching the German version of "American Idol". We loved it and cheered for our favourites. At some point, we decided to eat strawberries with melted chocolate. Yeah, uhm... It was our first time trying to cook by ourselves and we totally burned the chocolate. My mom came running into the kitchen and melted another bar of chocolate for us. She then taught me how to really melt the chocolate (slowly of course) and I never had another chocolate disaster like the first time.

  34. My first date was in high school. I really liked this guy and during the breaks we spend a lot of time together until he said it'd be cool if we went out. The first time - he ditched me. Actually, he didn't ditch me, but he missed me at the train station we decided to meet. I was so embaressed, but he called like thirty minutes later and apologized. Then he called again and asked if I wanted to go to the movies with him the next day. So we went there. It was quite a nice date, though it was kinda short. We didn't go on a next date, because one of my friends actually scared him away. Always stalked him and asked him if he liked me. I can understand that it scared him off. He was a nice guy though and I don't regret ever liking him or going out with him. :)

  40. Thinking back my first kiss was kinda funny and embarrassing. When he kissed, he made strangest sounds. It was a mix between a horse naying and a cat mewing. His idea of kissing was to rub his lips against mind, it was a strange grinding of mouths. To top it off, I had a huge crush on an extremely gorgeous guy from school and he happened to catch me kissing me mid first kiss. It was an awkward and horrible experience, no looking back I can see he humor in it. After that I was terrified I wasn't making the right sounds. The second boy I kissed was an exceptional kisser who was very sweet and patient, he took the time to teach me.

  49. My first slow dance was incredibly humiliating. I had a crush on a boy and we were all at a dinner dance. He came over to ask my dad a question and my dad said he wouldn't answer it without this boy asking me to dance first. So basically my first dance came about as a deal for a deck of cards the boy wanted to borrow. The dance was nice enough, minus my parents sitting there staring and my mom whipping out the camera and taking an entire roll of film of pictures. Needless to say, that crush was over pretty quickly due to humiliation lol

  52. My First Kiss was actually with my first REAL boyfriend. We hadn't met until that day (oh the days of meeting legit people on AOL...) and so I was with a friend who was visiting her grandparents at a care hospital and he met me there.

Well, we were sitting on the bench and he was hugging me and he was like, "can I kiss you?" and I was like, "uhm, no" but he started giving me kisses on the cheek and he eventually somehow managed to kiss kiss me. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed considering there wasn't any fireworks. All I remember was thinking that his lips were warm and "gooey". I was such a newbie when it came to things or maybe my expectations were just really high.

  53. So the first time I lost IT... was with the same guy in my previous comment.

I'll spare you the details but the whole time I was thinking, "so when does the fun/feel good part start?" not that you know he wasn't carrying just that I don't think he really knew what he was doing. I do remember him flipping me on top and I remember being so insecure about it that I literally took a pillow and was SMOTHERING him with it. Poor guy was just trying to enjoy himself and his girlfriend was pretty much trying to kill him LOL. He got better as time went on but man... every time I think back to my first time. It's just so... wtf... LOL

  54. my first time venturing out on my own, I went to study abroad in europe for the summer. my first 12 hours there consisted of me pulling out my back out carrying my luggage up and down the old stairs of underground stations and an old hotel. then bawling my eyes out in said hotel while watching the same 5 music videos on repeat on the very craptastic local tv channel. The next day was better...and i survived, but I'm embarrassed at how I reacted in those first hours...as though the world was ending.

As I was standing there, I noticed I couldn't see anything and then looked down at my hands to put my glasses on, only to realize I was holding the bottle, NOT my glasses. Then I smelled smoke. We were teenagers when we met and dated for a but before first tried to kiss me. Well, I'd become so used to just saying goodnight and that being that, I didn't expect him to kiss me. So, he leaned in, I looked up, my heart jumped....oh wait, my whole body jumped and I plummeted off the front porch.

  82. Getting my first publishing offer.

This one is still fresh since it just happened last month.

But, I got the email, just glanced at it because I was SO used to hearing "Sorry, this just isn't the right fit" that I totally expected to see that. But this one was different. When I saw that they wanted my book, I freaked the frig out.

The first thing I wanted to do was call my husband but I suddenly had no idea how to dial my phone. Once I tamed that dragon, I dialed. And dialed. And dialed. Until the point I lot my voice that day calling my husband, parents and best friend.

FYI, the BF was at school and freaked out right there in front of God and everybody. She said every single person in her class (who saw her on their way in) thought she'd lost her mind and gave a wide berth to get around her. lol

It was the kind of relationship where we hung out and played together mostly, but passed notes in class saying how much we liked each other. We had our first kiss a little later on at a school dance.

  97. Story #1

My first and only time asking a boy out in high school, I was 100% sure he liked me back, we had gone on a group date and then hung out a couple times and he took me to our spring fling dance, so I being naive and 17 didn't want to wait for him to ask me out... So, I asked him, to find out he was dating a 15 year old blonde, he was 18, can you say jail bait? So not only did I find that out, but some of his friends overheard our conversation, because the next day the whole school knew. oh joy of being a teenager.

My first kiss was the most awkward thing ever. Neither one of us has ever kissed anyone before and we were trying to do what we saw on tv and it was sloppy and my face was wet by the end of it.

    Firsts #2
On my first date it was storming outside and I was the only person to have an umbrella. This being my first date I thought that the guy was being a gentleman and opening the door for me but really since he was under my umbrella with me he opened the door and than he got in and slid across the seat to get in the drivers seat.

    Firsts #3
The first time I was allowed to drive by myself I had picked up my friends and we were coming back to my house and I had to pull around the yard to park in the carport because my mother was about to leave out of the house in a few minutes so when I turned into the carport I hit the house and all of my friends got out of the car and ran.

    Firsts #4
The first job I ever had was at an amusement park and I was working over in putt putt and I was walking the course when a kid hit the ball hard and it hit me in the head but to make matters worse the guy I liked was there at the time and he saw it happen

  99. My first time dating a co-worker... didn't go so well because he insisted on telling everyone we weren't going out the entire time we were. But then he also would lie about all sorts of things which were ridiculous - like saying he hadn't been on a TV game show, when clearly it was him, standing there on TV with a name badge on. So I realized he was a liar, which went a long way to helping me end that relationship. Still work with him now... interesting. Might not go there with co-workers again!

  100. My first kiss was with my best friend. Who I liked as a friend. He liked me way more though and had liked me years before. So.. when we were about 14-15, I sat next to him in a class and he asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend. It was more awkward to say no and I didn't want to offend him, so what did I do? I said yes, of course. We started hanging out and it was still like a friendship, but he held my hand in public and it was nice. One day we were watching TV at my place after school and we sat on a couch. He stared into my eyes and I knew it was coming. So we.. both inched towards each other and I ended up kissing his nostrils and he basically kissed my chin. You can say that it was awwwwkwarddd. We laughed it off and both said "let's try it again". It wasn't too good then either, but I painted on a face that said otherwise. We went out for about 2 months until I had enough of his wet kisses and it kind of ruined our friendship since I really didn't want to be in that relationship. I started dating a guy whom I was with for 4 years and now? Me and my first kiss are friends again, but safe to say, we don't talk about those two months. Ever! LOL.

  101. Story #2

I had my first kiss when I was 17, in West Edmonton Mall's Waterland Park. I was a bad swimmer (still am) but had to go along and watch out for my younger cousin. So Im floating on the water when suddenly I get pumped into by this group of belgium guys. One of of them was 18 year old Kevin, we got to know each quite well, so well that we almost got kicked out of the waterpark by one of the lifeguard because and I quote "for inappropriate timing in teenage hormones". Never saw him since, but he made my first kiss and a couple after that, less awkward and more fun and exciting :)

  102. First kiss! It caught me off guard, I was totally not expecting him to kiss me so I reactively turned my head away. Awwwkward. 104. Story #3

My first and only time flashing an amusement park. So my mom, my little sister and I went to an amusement park, one with a lot of wild rides, it was summer and I was wearing a halter dress where it ties ONLY around the neck. My little sister being the brave girl that she is , want to go on one of the wildest roller-coaster, one where the seats spins round and round while your going through loops and are upside down, at some point my dress must have come undone, but I don't notice my mom does. She points at me and laughs so hard I cant make out what she is trying to tell me. When the rides end, she finally pulls herself together and point towards my chest, I look down and quickly redo the knot.
Off course when we get down, we find out this roller-coaster rides HAVE to been one with camera pictures. So my mom ask the dude behind the counter to delete ours, when they come up on the screen the idiot practically shouts "BOOBS!" and 12 more guys join the line... I died from humiliation, my mom still thinks its a funny story to tell around thanksgiving. She says "Nadia, you should be thankful that this year, you didn't flash anyone!"

I was at a b-day party of one of my best friends and we played the traditional "spin the bottle". I was about 13 if I remember correctly and had to kiss a cooler, hotter older guy... That was all nice and well until I had to go to him and I frigging tripped and fell in his lap! I still groan every time I remember it...

  110. First story #4.....My first son was born in a dramatic fashion. I was at 34 weeks when I was put on bed-rest for a weekend, due to spotting. I went back to work, as a preschool teacher, after the weekend. But, by the end of that next week, I was spotting again. I had placenta previa, so I was put on permanent bed rest. I just looked at the doctor, not saying a word, and he said, 'No, you can't work with your feet up." lol He's probably heard it all. That bed rest lasted a week, before I was having significant problems. I was still deep in denial when I went to the hospital that night just before midnight. I didn't take a packed bag or anything with me. I hadn't even had my baby shower yet. lol Well, I found myself having an emergency C-section at 3am. It was the craziest night of my life. Luckily, our little boy was healthy at 35 weeks.

  113. So the first time I tried to hook-up with a guy at a party was awful. It was supposed to be just fun and a little making out. But we were both pretty buzzed and I was so nervous cause I'd never done that before (or anything of much really) and I was afraid I'd be a terrible kisser. Anyway so we're dancing a but and he was gripping my hips amd pulling me against him and he clashed his mouth to mine but it was really hard and our teeth clashed and his breath was terrible but I didn't want to make him feel bad so I sort of just tried to gently push him back. He didn't get the hint so he stuck his tongue in my mouth and I nearly gagged. I pushed him back a bit and turned to the side and said, "Oh I'm so thirsty," and fled to the kitchen. Worst of all like ten minutes later he hooked up with some other girl on the living room couch. It was so awkward and embarrassing.

  116. First Kiss:
I just remembered being kissed during elementary school years while reading previous comments.
Only during the summer vacation did a boy(i think his name.was Jonathon) came to visit my friend's house from down the street. One day we found ourseleves alone, and he pressed his lips to mine. I had no idea what was going on, so i opened my mouth to ask, only for him to stick his tounge in mine. I pushed him away and ran to find my other friends. He followed and, oddly, we never mentioned it and just continued as if nothing happened... I don't recall ever seeing him after that summer.

Interesting time to remember i actually HAVE been kissed before (assuming this counts...)

  131. Awkward first time.
Just thinking of it makes me cringe.
Well a lil background: I came from an all-girls Catholic school, so when I entered college, it was sort of a culture shock. I had blockmates which meant that they would be my classmate for the whole 4 years in college. At first I was just so dumb-founded because almost 3/4 of the class were populated by males.
Having no brothers and my Dad working overseas. I never associate myself with guys before.
Long story short, I got a friend on the very first day and became close to him -- he's the guy who's so touchy-feely so EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. he would touch me I actually stiffen! He normally hugs us (even my friends -- he has another set of friends aside from us girls), and has this arm not around our shoulders but casually lounging on our waist or hips. (Yeah, he's pretty much the playboy but he's such a good friend)
    *facepalm*
After 4 years, well he's still the same but I am the one who normally initiate the hugs so it wouldn't be that awkward. But then again, I still tense every time I do it.

  132. My first TIME (well, might have been our first had we not gotten caught :P) with my current boyfriend...we were coming home from our date and things were starting to heat up while we were still in the car in front of my driveway. The windows were all fogged up, so it doesn't take much for someone to guess what we were doing or rather was about do. My neighbor caught us, lol. We weren't completely naked, but we weren't fully dressed either. Thank goodness he's a friend of the family; he said he wouldn't tell my parents as long as we never did it again...arg, how mortifying...

Same, during college. Aside from being awkward with guys. I am not much of a sociable person. Normally I am depicted as snobbish. Well, I really am. =))
But then, first day in college I went early at our classroom and there was this girl who sat beside me. There were over 40+ chairs and only 5 or so were occupied and she sat beside me. I gave her a look, the typical eyebrow raising. Then she just introduced herself... next thing we know, we became besties!
Well I really told her that she was too feeling close to spark up a convo with me. Then she just laughed and told me I looked intimidating and so snobbish, she was a tad scared of me. HAHA!

Back in HS, since I came from an all-girls school, it's typical to have a girl-to-girl relationship (I never did, thank God). So I have friends who are lesbian, but I was so close with them. One that struck me was that when one whole section somehow hated me (which lasted for days) because the girlfriend of my friend though I was stealing her girl.
Really awkward afterwards with my friend, we weren't that close so to be hated by a whole section was a shocker and it was difficult to avoid my friend because we have the same class everyday. We ended just being civil with each other.

At the time, I thought he was sweet for the present, but now that I'm thinking back, what was he trying to say...??? Lol.

  138. Last first story:
    This. was. really. awkward.
I had my bestie from junior year and she was a lesbian. We were SUPER close as in if we need partners, she was my go to partner; with group work, same; when I need to go to the loo, she was with me; buying food, most time she was with me (yeah even when we change our attires for our swimming classes). So several students thought we were together. BUT WE'RE NOT. She was courting 2 girls, yeah, she's pretty with a boyish angst. Then 1 of those girls was the one she picked and really courted (since the other one rejected her). The 1 girl she was seriously pursuing was jealous of the time I spent with this friend of mine. Towards the end of the school year, I was still close with my friend. We never talked about the girl she was courting because I really don't like the girl because that girl always glares at me, which the inner bitchy in me doesn't care.
After summer when classes started again, I was so shocked because my lesbian friend shifted to a fully-bloomed lady. She was using make-up, she straightened her curly hair, and then I figured out she already has a boyfriend!
3 things was awkward back then: 1. I was sorta the reason why she didn't end uo with the girl because she valued our friendship more (the "pick one: Me or her?", she picked me). 2. In senior year, we weren't that close because of the different schedule and circle of friends; but I found out that back in 3rd year, she liked me. *which never did I thought possible*. And 3.She's freaking girly when she migrated to another country that she was before!
But I'm happy for her! *waves to her if she sees this, which I hope she wouldn't*

At the end of the night, my friends couldn't understand why I didn't dance with if I kind of liked him.

  148. Ready for a horrible first prom story? It wasn't even with a guy I liked. I just went because his brother was dating my best friend. It started off badly while I was painting my nails while wearing my prom dress. (I don't recommend this.) I spilled nail polish all down the skirt of my dress. My friend's mother did some quick pinning to make it less noticeable.

Then, the guy shows up at my house to meet my father. While there, he HIT MY FATHER WITH HIS CAR in the driveway. Yes, this happened. Somehow, I was still allowed to drive off with this guy.

It didn't get any better. In one of my firsts above, I mentioned how I couldn't dance until my twenties. So, my date kept asking me to dance, I kept saying no, and he was not delighted with me. The feeling was mutual.

  150. My first french kiss (the most awkward of my first times)
It was the 3rd time that I went out with this guy that I liked a lot. I remember that we were out of his house and he was hugging me, played with my hair and others things so I was pretty sure he wanted to kiss me (I still hope that because if he doesn't this would be a lot more awkward) In some point he put me closer, took me face in his hands and planted a kiss on my lips. Just that. Nothing else. And it was a lot worse, it was like a kick to my pride. So in a moment of courage I press my lips against his and he followed me. At that moment everything was butterflies and rainbows till his tongue was inside my mouth. I was really freaked out and I doesn't had any idea of what to do so I just tried to do the same thing he was doing but everything went wrong and for some reason (I still don't know how happened) my tongue was in his cheek. Oh lord was the horrible thing EVER. And the worst thing (yeah the worst thing is still to come) he was the brother of one of my friends so at the next day she already knew it all. Thank god they move out.

  151. Some background - growing up, one of our favourite family TV shows was "Due South" which featured a Mountie paired with a cop in Chicago named Ray. The Mountie was always going off on tangents and when his partner would object, he'd reply with "Yes, but that's not the point Ray."
The story - the first trip I went on with my new boyfriend (now husband). We went to Montreal for the weekend. We were talking about different things to see and do and he got off on a tangent and at some point I interrupted him and said "Yes, but that's not the point Ray." And my boyfriend gets this slightly sad look on his face and very quietly he says "My name is Russ." Apparently, he hadn't seen the show.

  157. Story #3: The first time I shared a bathroom with a guy
I was studying abroad in Europe and living with a host family. Their oldest son, who looked like a freaking model, and I had to share a bathroom. He also had to walk through my bedroom to get to his bedroom. There were a few awkward encounters and I don't exactly look my best after just waking up in the morning.

  158. Story #4: My first high school dance with a date
My date and I went in a group with a few of my really good friends. Things became really awkward since one of my then best friends started hitting on my date!

  159. My first and second kiss occurred on the same night (it was a rather ill-conceived game of Truth-or-Dare). The first was awkward, as to be expected, but nice because I was secretly carrying a torch for the dude. Unfortunately, the second was with his step-brother, who I saw as brother-figure. Anyway, we were supposed to kiss for a certain number of seconds, but we were both so uncomfortable that we burst out laughing mid-kiss and couldn't finish the time.

  160. My first french kiss was with a random guy at a party. I knew he'd been drinking, but he seemed sober enough and was very sweet and complimentary, so we danced and ended up kissing. After a while, my friend came to find me to ask if I wanted to leave, so I ducked away for a second. When I went back, I found the guy kissing someone else and then had to just kind of shuffle away awkwardly...

  161. My first serious relationship started when my friend (who I, luckily, had feelings for as well) put his hand down my shirt during a public screening of Doctor Who. I'm still too mortified to ask any of those present at the time if they noticed.

  162. My first "boyfriend" was so awkward around me that, after actually asking me out, he didn't speak to me again in person for the ~3 weeks we were "dating." Ah, middle school...

  163. Story #1: My first supposed to be dance when I was in elementary (primary)

It was Valentine's Day and we were given cut paper hearts (the hearts were cut into two and the one who holds the missing pair of your paper heart will be your dance partner) but I was shy to dance with any of my guy classmates and my crush was already dancing with someone. So, I hid in the comfort room and only went out after the dance. I didn't know who was supposed to be my partner. :P

  164. Story #2: My first crush who knew I have a crush on him

Days before our graduation, my friend told his best friend about me having a crush on him (the best friend). We were so close because we're classmates for six years and I thought he will take it as a joke but he didn't talk to me since then even until our graduation day! I didn't have the chance to say good bye to him before we parted ways. :(

  165. Story #3: My first walk back home with my crush

My crush and I visited our handicapped friend because we're the ones living near him. After we left our friend's house, we rode a jeepney (it's a public vehicle here in the Philippines). As we we're talking inside the jeepney, we passed the canto where he lives, I told him then he said that he'll walk me home. I was blushing and told him no but he said that it's good if my grandma knew that he won't let bad things happen to me. Oh, I knew I was redder than a ripe tomato.

  166. Story #4: The first and only time a guy best friend saw my bra

We were going to have our star gazing so I packed me clothes. I was holding my folded shirt with my bra inside then my best friend snatched it out of my hand and stretched it to look at the design. As he unfolded it, my bra fell and I grabbed it and my shirt quickly then went out of the room.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway! :D

  167. Ugh ... which one to tell

I was knee deep in a serious crush with my now husband. I mean were talking stalker territory. I mean, I was driving around the streets of town looking for his car, pathetic right!? Anyway, I finally get the courage to talk to him, and he calls me Julio - he thought I was named after a mexican dude? UGH how embarrasing, but worse was I was in such awe of talking to him I didn't correct him!

  168. My first boy girl party was in the sixth grade. I stressed over every detail so as to not reveal to everyone what a complete dork I was. At the party things are going good, I have kept a rein on my dork side, until it happens. Laura the host says she has a video of chip and dale , and I gush Aww they are so cute and funny, on and on I gush about the Disney duo. Imagine my horror when instead of wholesome Disney it is the male review Chipendales (sp?) Welcome to the dork side I never lived it down

  169. So I just remembered this (I've been wracking my brain for awkward moments). Last day of 4th grade this boy who I'd had a major crush on asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes and we held hands for about two minutes as we waited for our respective school buses. I was nervous because I'd never had a "boyfriend" before, but when my bus rolled along I pecked his cheek and scurried off. It was summer vacation so of course I didn't see him. Fast-forward until about a week before classes started again, and I'd biked to a nearby grocery store for a candy bar and some stuff my mom asked for and he was there with his best friend. I was in a pj tee and ratty jeans with holes so I was beyond embarrassed and didn't want to see him. So I was avoiding him and peeking through the corners and avoiding the same isles. His friend saw me anyway and ran to me. He waved to my "boyfriend" and pointed at me as I was coming out from behind a big chip rack (facepalm). He looked back and just sort of waved and kept walking. As I was about to leave the store his friend runs to me and says, "Alex [my "boyfriend"] says you're not his girlfriend anymore." I was mortified and dying of embarrassment, my face burning, but I just sort of shrugged a shoulder and said, "Whatever, I don't like him anymore, anyways." Then I fled that building like the sucker was on fire. I didn't speak to him ever again.

  170. My first kiss was very sweet with a boy that was very sweet. My parents and his parents were friends and we did a lot of things together. We were both 6 and my older brother and his older brother was hanging out together and we was at his house. It was Christmas time and he had bought me a necklace it was purple and I loved it. We was in his room playing and decided that we would try to kiss to see what the fuss was all about. So we touched lips then we tried it again and as soon as we was lip to lip we got caught by our brothers and we stopped hanging out. So very sad. He was too embarrassed.

  171. My first date alone. Was with a boy that a friend of mine had set me up with. It was her boyfriends best friend. He was in the Marines and thought he was top dog. We went to go play putt putt golf and then we was going to have dinner. Well we played putt putt and I kinda thought it was okay to tell him how excited I was to beat him and said it a couple of times. He got very mad and we skipped dinner and he took me home. That was the last time we say each other. First date not so good.

  172. My first experience with child birth was not normal. My now 6 year old is a healthy beautiful little girl but when she was born was a day I will never forget for multiple reasons. first because who forgets having a baby. Second I was rushed into an emergency C-section 3 weeks before my due date because I contracted HELLP syndrome. I was so sick and the doctor didn't think that I would pull through because my liver completely shut down but good news...I did! Then I had an oops and had another kid but it was almost smooth sailing. So at least now I have 2 beautiful healthy girls to show for it.

  173. My first formal dance was fun. I went with a friend that I hung out with in study hall. Someone came up to me 1 day in study hall and asked who I was going to prom with and Craig was sitting next to me and I said I was going with Craig and that was that and we went together. It wasn't too bad. We had an alright time and there was no pressure so we could be ourselves so it was relaxing.

  175. My first "real" kiss was awful, actually. I was 15 and not antirely sure what to do with my tongue. LOL! So, I just kinda thrust it in his mouth just as he was doing the same thing... ugh. It was short and sloppy and a complete epic fail. I'd like to think I've gotten better with age and practice. :)

  176. My first formal dance was my boyfriend's prom (he was a senior, I was a sophomore). I remember having a really good time - it was a completely magical evening. But, when I look back on the pictures, I can't believe I actually wore that god-awful dress!!

  177. My first date that I went on with my now husband was unique. He took me to a shooting range. We had a blast blowing holes in targets with various rifles. I had never done it before, so it gave him a good excuse to touch me - good form is important! ;)

  178. The first Cora Carmack book I ever read was Losing It on my Kindle in early spring. I remember bringing it outside with me on a sunny day while the kids playing on the swing set. I got annoyed because they kept asking me to push them (bless their hearts), and I just wanted to keep my mind on Garrick!

  182. First time being a designated driver.....AWFUL experience!! I drove 5 drunks in my new SUV. The 5th one being in the very back of my SUV by the hatch. He had a cooler between his legs & still puked in my car! When my husband (also drunk) got out of the car to let the 5th drunk out of the back, the 3rd drunk in the back seat was getting out at the same time & puked all over my husband! Not a fun night!! Moral of this story, I will be the designated drunk from now on & not the designated driver!! Haha!!

  186. First awkward date! ha ha ha. It is my birthday and my very first time to see my long-distance boyfriend. We decided to have lunch and watch twilight saga's. Our tickets to Breaking Dawn's is 3 hours after lunch, instead of doing nothing while waiting.. we watched another movie first. And guess what! I should be talking to him cos hello, it's our first meeting but!!!! I actually fell asleep! UGH! I forgot that I drunk my anti-allergy medicine before we met and led me to that. IT'S REALLY AWKWARD. I woke with his sexy laugh with the scene and he says it is okay that I fell asleep, he actually understand me. It is sooooo awkward bcos.... we haven't bond to each other before personally, I've been seriously-bloody conscious with my face while I am asleep, I am thinking he might be turned off to me! lol

  189. the first time I spent the night with a guy I liked I was terrified to sleep in the dark by myself. So when he was about to leave I said, "wait arent you going to sleep with me?" He was so nervous that he sweat all night and I guess since I had been drinking I don't remember any of it but he said that I cuddled and talked with him for hours which I dont remember and then he woke up early to take a shower because he didnt want to stink. I just remember waking up and asking why his hair was still gelled up. Nothing sexual happened but it was really a funny memory we tell 6 years later.

  190. First time to be drunk! It was our school's tour to somewhere here in PH. We were already on the resort and having fun. The night came and we all started drinking and partying. My boyfriend got mad at me which led me to heartbreak and drinking plenty of light alcohols. Last time I knew was I am sitting on a chair, telling everybody about every drama I have then I stand up to have another drink and fall. The awkward in here was I woke up crying to my boyfriend (I don't know how the hell I came to him) he's keep on saying sorry and about to kiss me but I started vomiting right in his face to his shirt Ha ha ha I feel sorry for him
